FLY Fall 2008 Updates for Winter 08-09
Our Coaching Staff:
Tim Preston: Tim is the manager of the FLY Freestyle program; he also serves as head aerial coach for the FLY Devo Team. Tim competed in moguls on the U.S. Ski Team for five seasons. He was the 2002 Junior Olympic Aerial Champion. Tim is a Level 3 aerial coach.
Jerry Grossi: Jerry competed for numerous seasons on the World Cup circuit in Aerials. Jerry was a member of the 2001 World Championships team. Jerry is a Level 4 aerial coach and is the head coach of the FLY Freestyle Elite Team.
John Lobsenz: John Lobsenz is the FLY Devo Team Head Gymnastics Coach. John competed in Division 1 Collegiate Gymnastics at the University of Iowa. John has coached gymnastics for many years, and has been coaching aerials with FLY for five years. John is a Level 2 aerial coach

FREESTYLE SUMMER PROGRAMS AT UTAH OLYMPIC PARK
Come FLY with us at Utah Olympic Park’s freestyle pool this summer!
Experience the thrill of freestyle aerials with elite level coaches. Programs are available for athletes ages 6 and up.
Try it for a day or enroll in a summer long training program – programs available for all abilities.
FLY PUBLIC PROGRAMS
*Skiing experience is recommended for all FLY programs.
AIR INTRO — A half day camp for anyone interested in jumping
into the pool! Intro camps offer an introduction to the basics of
freestyle and freeride aerials. Ages 6 and up.
• June 9th through August 24th
Monday through Sunday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm each day
• August 27th through September 1st
Wednesday through Monday, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm each day
$95 per person (includes equipment and Utah Olympic Park daily pass)
PRIVATE LESSONS — Three-hour lessons tailored to your goals -
based on ability level. Ages 6 and up. Request a 3-hour time slot
between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm. Three hour lessons available seven
days a week (unless pool is closed).
• May 30th through September 27
$250 per person (includes equipment and Utah Olympic Park daily
passes.) If more than one participant, add $85 dollars for each additional
participant. Limit: 5 total.
FLYTE CAMPS — These two-day camps provide an in depth
introduction to freestyle and freeride aerials. Ages 8 and up.
• Camps run June 16th through August 23rd
Monday and Tuesday, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm
$365 per person (includes equipment, meals both days, and Utah
Olympic Park daily passes)
FLY-AXIS CAMP — A five day camp run by the FLY and AXIS
freestyle programs. This camp offers an in depth training
opportunity for anyone interested in freestyle and freeride aerials.
Ages 8 and up.
• Monday and Tuesday (2:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
Thursday (2:00 pm to 8:00 pm),
Friday (11:00 am to 6:00 pm), Saturday (9:00 am to 1:00 pm)
• Camps run June 16th through August 23rd
$692 per person (includes equipment, meals all five days and Utah
Olympic Park daily pass)
Note: If participating in multiple camps, United States Ski &
Snowboard Association (USSA) Membership may be required.
FLY SUMMER LONG PROGRAMS
FLY SUMMER CAMP (new this season) — Learn the
fundamentals of freestyle and freeride aerials. This program
offers great coaching in a non-competitive environment.
Two mornings a week for 9 weeks.
• Ages 6-12
■ Monday and Tuesday mornings
June 9th through August 13th, 9:00 am to Noon
• Ages 13 and up
■ Friday-Saturday mornings
June 9th through August 13th, 9:00 am to Noon
$950 per person (includes equipment and Utah Olympic Park daily
passes). Requirements: Current USSA membership is required for
this program.
FLY DEVO (new this season) — For athletes interested in
pursuing competitive aerial skiing. Learn the basics of aerials
from elite coaches. This program includes video analysis and a
focused training environment. Ages 10 and up.
• Train three mornings a week: Wednesdays, Thursdays
and Fridays. June 9th to August 13th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
$1,250 per person (includes equipment and Utah Olympic Park
daily passes). Requirements: Current USSA membership and a
strong desire to regularly attend training.
FLY FREESTYLE ELITE TEAM — FLY Freestyle is host to one of
the most prestigious aerial programs in the country. The Elite
Team is a summer and winter traveling team that competes on
the Divisional and North American circuit. The Fly Elite team has
fielded numerous aerialists onto the U.S. Ski Team. This is a
recruitment based program beginning with the FLY DEVO Team.
*Disclaimer: Skiing experience is recommended, but not necessarily required
for the FLY programs. Beginner to intermediate level skiing is usually
sufficient to use the novice and intermediate water ramps. If you
have never skied before FLY cannot guarantee you will progress to the
water ramp within a program session. Refunds will not be offered once a
program session has begun.
ABOUT US
Tim Preston, FLY Freestyle Summer Program Manager — Tim has been a five-year member of
the U.S. Ski Team. He has competed on the World Cup level in freestyle moguls and was a two-time member of the Junior World Aerial Team. A Level 3 aerial coach, Tim returns for his sixth season coaching in the FLY Freestyle program.
Jerry Grossi, FLY Freestyle Elite Team Head Coach — Jerry was a 10 year veteran on the U.S. Aerial Team and has many top ten World Cup finishes along with a 2nd place finish in aerials in Australia 2001. He was a member of the 2000 World Championship team. Jerry was also a competitive mogul skier on the national level. Jerry retired in 2003 and has stayed involved in freestyle ever since. Jerry is a Level 3 aerial coach and is returning for his second season coaching as the FLY freestyle elite team coach.
